Fall Foliage in Maine
From late September to late October, the state of Maine offers some of the most spectacular fall foliage in the country. Whether you enjoy guided tours, state fairs, picking apples at local orchards, or simply driving on your own through the golden countryside, Maine has something for you.

Blue Hill Fair
Blue Hill. August 28 - September 1, 2008. A "Down to Earth" Country Fair always scheduled Labor Day Weekend. The Blue Hill Fair showcases the best of Maine Agriculture, while providing carnival thrills, a great selection of food and displays, and major entertainment (past headliners include Faith Hill, Charlie Daniels, 38 Special, and Diamond Rio).
Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival
Brunswick, Maine. August 28-31, 2008. For over 25 years running, bluegrass in Thomas Point Beach. Details are posted online as they develop.

Lewiston Greek Festival

Greenville - International Seaplane Plane Fly-In
September 4-7, 2008. The International Seaplane Fly-In takes place the weekend after Labor Day. This fun weekend consists of Float Plane competitions, educational exhibits, Moosehead Lake Region's Largest Craft Fair, lots of food, and much more! Southwest Harbor - Mt. Desert Island Music Festival
Southwest Harbor (at Smugglers Den Campground). September 6, 2008. The MDI Music Festival is a professionally staged music and arts event. Musical performances include a combination of folk, country, bluegrass, jazz, blues, and pop. In addition to music, there will be a beer tent, food vendors, arts and crafts and plenty of other fun activities for the whole family.
Eastport Maine Salmon Festival
September 5-8, 2008. Always the weekend after Labor Day; declared the official Salmon Day in Maine by Governor Angus King. Saturday is Paint Eastport Day, sponsored by Eastport Gallery. Sunday dinner of farm raised Atlantic Salmon. Also a microbrewery tent, educational displays, historic cemetery tour, live entertainment, music, arts/antiques/crafts show, boat tours of salmon pens, architectural tours and strawberry shortcake sale. Wells Chili Fest
September 13-14, 2008. What better way to warm up on a cool New England Fall day? Chili and salsa competitions, crafts, music and entertainment. Live bands, vendors, car show, crafters, and more. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm. Tasting kits available. Fun for the whole family!
Wells Laudholm Nature Craft Festival
September 6-7, 2008. This prestigious event allows about 85 crafters, selected by jury, to exhibit their wares to thousands of browsers. Music, food and environmental education as well. All at the spectacular Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm. Proceeds from the all-volunteer festival are contributed to the Laudholm Trust, a non-profit organization supporting the Wells Reserve.
Wells Summer Solstice Crafts Show
September 6-7, 2008. 17th Annual Summer Solstice Craft Show at the Wells Elementary School on Rt. 109, 10 am to 4 pm. 70 juried crafters featuring jewelry, stained glass, pottery, gourmet food and more. Free admission and parking. For details, call 207 646-5172.
Paint Eastport Day
September 6, 2008. The Eastport Gallery hosts this event the day BEFORE Salmon Sunday. The public is invited to paint or sculpt their favorite Eastport scene. Registration begins at 8:00 A.M. at the gallery. Biddeford - Chalk on the Walk Festival
September 20, 2008 from noon to 4 p.m. Heart of Biddeford hosts its 2nd Annual Chalk on the Walk Festival in downtown Biddeford. Come out and create your own chalk masterpiece, or participate in the community chalk mural while listening to good local music, eating local food, and enjoying the craft fair. Rain date is September 30.

Augusta - Annual Maine Walks for Recovery

Fryeburg, Maine. September 28 - October 5, 2008. By far, this is Maine's largest agricultural fair. It usually falls at the peak of fall foliage season, which adds to the beauty and fun.
