CAN-AM Crown Sled Dog Race
Fort Kent. March 1, 2008. These international sled dog races offer 30-mile, 60-mile and 250-mile races. These races have been run for over a decade. Everyone in the family (except the family pets, which are not allowed at the race site) will enjoy this free event. Come join the fun!
Wyman Lake Ice Fishing Derby
Moscow. March 7-9, 2008. The Annual Wyman Lake Ice Fishing Derby has its headquarters at the Moscow Town Boat Landing. Hundreds of dollars in prizes and trophies for biggest cold water game fish, and for biggest lake trout, splake, brook trout, brown trout, landlocked salmon and rainbow trout. Maine Boatbuilders Show
Portland. March 14-16, 2008. A GATHERING OF THE FINEST fiberglass and wooden custom boatbuilders on the East Coast. Also exhibiting numerous manufacturers of boating equipment. Sailboats, powerboats, canoes, kayaks, and rowing boats with the builders there to discuss and sell their work. The show times for the Maine Boatbuilders are Friday and Saturday 10AM - 6PM and Sunday, 10AM - 4PM. Admission is $15.00 per day at the door. All over Maine. March 23, 2008. On the 4th Sunday of every March, maple syrup farms throughout the state of Maine open their doors to the public as they make maple syrup. See the sap from local maple trees turned into the real syrup. Many sugarhouses offer tastings, with syrup on pancakes, ice cream, or snow, and often hold other family-friendly events. 17th Annual Eat the Heat Chili Cookoff and Firefighters Race
Newry. March 30, 2008. Come to Sunday River Resort and watch teams of five firefighters skiing in full turnout gear and carrying a hose as they compete to raise money for Maine Handicapped Skiing. The race is at 11am on Tempest at White Cap. While at White Cap come sample chili from the best cooks in the state as they vie for the prize of Best Chili Cook. NAPA Maine Motor Sports Festival
Lewiston. March 20-21, 2008. This exciting event takes place at the Colisee in Lewiston. The Maine Motor Sports Festival showcases the premier race cars, drivers and tracks in the state of Maine. Maine race tracks will have demonstration cars, along with motorcycles, import tuners, specialty cars and retail vendors. Entertainment includes the New England Patriot Cheerleaders and more.
